Robert “Bob” Esposito

Robert “Bob” Esposito

Robert “Bob” Esposito, of Delanco, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Thursday June 26, 2025, at the age of 87.  Bob was a true straight shooter, matter-of-fact and refreshingly honest, never one to sugarcoat anything, but always someone you could count on.

Bob was born in Dover, NJ on May 19, 1938 and was raised in Budd Lake, NJ.  He enjoyed playing football in high school and college, along with his brother Joe.  After graduating from Netcong High School in June 1955, he attended Moravian College in Bethlehem PA and Upsala College in East Orange, NJ where he majored in Business Administration.  It was at Moravian where Bob met fellow student Carol Landrock, and their love story began.

Bob and Carol were married August 13, 1960 and settled down in Bethlehem, where both were employed by the Bethlehem Steel Company.  It was in Bethlehem where the family started, with 3 sons, Nick, Dean and Bobby-Joe, being born over a 4-year period.  While employed by the Steel Company, Bob was sent to an IBM School, which was his start into data processing/computer programming.  This became the foundation for a long and rewarding career.
In February 1967, Bob moved his family to Delanco NJ to start working with Macmillian in Delran.  Bob would spend the rest of his life in Delanco. In the early years, he coached his sons in different sports, and was involved in the township’s adult sports, such as tennis, volleyball and basketball. Professionally, Bob was a computer programmer for over 48 years, a career he truly loved and worked at right up until his passing. He spent much of his life working with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Department, and his passion for his work never faded. He enjoyed the challenge, the logic, and the purpose of what he did every day.  The next time you renew your NJ driver’s license or automobile registration online, think of Bob, because he had a hand in writing those programs.

Each year, Bob and Carol made cherished family trips to Florida, originally traveling in February to visit Bob’s parents in West Palm Beach. In recent years, they spent extended stays in Fort Pierce, enjoying the sunshine and time together, including surf fishing. Bob enjoyed betting horses and a good day at the track. In fact, he and his beloved wife Carol celebrated 14 wedding anniversaries at the Saratoga Race Track in New York.  A sports fan to the core, Bob enjoyed watching golf, basketball, soccer and tennis. He was a big fan of Tiger Woods, Coco Gauff, Caitlin Clark and the women’s UConn basketball teams.  But beyond the sports, the travel, and the career, Bob will be remembered most for his extremely generous spirit.

Family meant everything to Bob. He was a devoted husband to Carol for nearly 65 years.  He was a dedicated father and grandfather, a fixture on the sidelines of countless games: watching his sons play soccer, basketball, baseball, track and field and wrestling; and watching his grandkids participate in swim meets, dance recitals, plays, concerts, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, field hockey, and track and field.  For over 50 years, he cheered them on with pride.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Audrey; and his brother, Joe.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Nick, Dean and Bobby-Joe (Ruth); grandchildren, Gabrielle (Jake FitzPatrick), Caleb and Rachel; and great grandson Ronan.

A celebration of life for Bob Esposito will be held at Sweeney’s Funeral Home in Riverside, NJ on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 10AM to 11:15AM, with a service starting at 11:15AM.
