Helen Centinaro
Helen Centinaro, (nee Verrocchio) passed away at 102 years of age, on September 16, 2025. She was born and raised in Riverside, NJ, the seventh of eight children born to Stefano and Caroline Verrocchio.
She attended St. Peter’s Grade School and Riverside High School. During World War II She worked on aircraft components at Fleetwings in Bristol, PA, where she met her future husband. She married John Centinaro in 1943, and they were married for 69 years at his passing. Helen and John were members of St. Joseph’s Parish in Beverly where she was a member of Altar Rosary Society. They loved to travel and made several trips to Italy, staying for months at a time with family. Their travel included numerous visits to cities and sites in Europe and throughout the United States.
She was a wonderful caring and loving Mother and a terrific ‘Nonna’. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was deeply affected by the loss of her beloved grandson, Bradford Lynch, who passed in 2018.
She had a warm and welcoming personality and was an exceptional cook and hostess. There was always room at the table. Helen always demonstrated real joy and was engaged and interested in everything around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She will continue to be a big presence in our family even though she is no longer with us.
Helen is survived by her children Carole Lynch (Cletus), Robert (Martha), and Gary (Wren). Her grandchildren Alexsondra Hume (David), Adam Centinaro (Kristina), and Adrienne Centinaro (Kimberly). Her great-grandchildren Sophia Hume, Mia Hume, Brayden Lynch, Benjamin Centinaro, and Luca Centinaro.
Helen will be laid to rest at Monument Cemetery, located in Beverly, New Jersey.
A celebration of life honoring Helen’s memory will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather, share stories, and reminisce. Details will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
