Eleanor LeConey Martin (nee Berger)

Eleanor LeConey Martin (nee Berger)

Although she may have been the greatest Girl Scout Leader in Riverside, Eleanor wore many hats throughout her 93 years. Her proudest hat she wore was the one that said Mommom. Eleanor was Mommom to more then just the 17 grandchildren and greats of her own, but also to their spouses, friends, and neighbors. Eleanor was born to the late Etta and George Berger on November 7th 1931. Her early life was spent being the best sister. This gave her the ability to have the patience of a saint as waiting for one bathroom was not easy. Her favorite memories of High School included her Sports Night dancing with her friends. Still to this day Maroon Most Mighty. She met the love of her life in High School. They married and were blessed with 6 children. Unfortunately their marriage was cut short. She later married again and was blessed to have another son. Her later years she enjoyed her time in OC talking with her friends on the porch. Some say she was the greatest landlord as she let weeks pass without being paid.

She then went on to live the snowbirds dream of spending winters in FL and summers in NJ. She spent her last moments in her “tin house”.

Eleanor was predeceased by both of her husbands Donald LeConey Sr. and Joseph Martin. Her sisters Norma and Marie. In 2002 the loss of her grandson Timmy shattered her world. Death was no stranger to Eleanor though as she was also predeceased by numerous relatives including her brother in laws, a son in law and many friends.

Eleanor was survived by her children: Donald (Susan), Michele (Anthony), Timothy (Sarah), Craig (Christine), Chirstopher (Jillian), Annemarie (Bartholomew), and Thomas. Also her sisters Jackie and Joyce.
