Richard “Ricky” Ross

Richard “Ricky” Ross

Ricky was the kind of man who could fill a room with his voice and his laughter. Ricky loved the simple joys in life.

He devoted over 50 years of his life to the Bricklayer’s Union, working alongside his father and brothers. He was 1 of 5 brothers, known as the “Pancoast Boys”. In his younger days he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his brother, Frankie, and their friends. Though he could build any structure or solve any construction problem, Ricky never quite made peace with modern technology, especially cell phones.

Ricky had a deep affection for his property in upstate New York, where he was known as “Greenie.” Whether he was farming or riding snowmobiles, he was most at peace with the hum of his John Deere. He also loved the Jersey Shore, where he and Peggy would spend a few weeks every summer.

His heart belonged to his family, especially to his grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Poppy.” With them, he softened in all the best ways. His favorite past time was sharing his joys of New York with them, taking them for rides on the his tractors and snowmobiles and picking the pumpkins he grew.

Ricky cherished his family traditions: Sunday dinners, Christmas Eve, and summer holiday barbecues by the pool at his parents’ home.

Ricky’s love story with Peggy began as a childhood friendship and later blossomed into a beautiful companionship rooted in music, laughter, and dance. They shared 44 incredible years together, 16 of them as husband and wife.

Ricky is survived by his wife Peggy; mother: Naomi Ross; children: Kelli (Robert), Bernie (Amy), Holly (Mike), Brandin (Stacie); grandchildren: Aidan, Taylor, Chase, Riley, and Jake; brothers: Andy, Frank (Teri), Kenny, and Barry (Suzanne); brother-in-law: Tommy (Angel); along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father: Frank Ross Sr.

Come celebrate 72 great years on Friday August 8, 2025 from 9am-11am, at Sweeny Funeral Home, 337 Bridgeboro Street, Riverside NJ 08075, where there will be an 11am service. Interment private.
